Course Description:
This course provides a basic introduction to assessing individuals for special education. It is designed to provide an understanding of what Educational Specialists need to know so they may assess students appropriately and have an understanding of what constitutes high quality assessment practice. The class provides training in the administration both formal large scale and informal assessment methods. Students are introduced to basic statistical measurement concepts, which are important for understanding standardized norm referenced tests instruments and informal assessment methods used in both special and general education. Using hands-on practice students learn how to administer, score, and interpret results of tests and assessments.
